Junior Quantity Surveyor (QS)

Colin Burke Electrical Ltd. has been involved in the electrical trade for over 20 years, where we have been specialising predominantly in commercial and industrial projects. Due to our continued expansion, we are seeking to recruit a Junior QS to join our growing  team. This position will be based in the Dublin region.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

·         Assist senior quantity surveyors in the preparation of cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents

·         Conduct material take-offs and measurements to support quantity calculations

·         Assist in the procurement process by obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations

·         Support the preparation and evaluation of subcontractor and supplier contracts.

·         Monitor project costs, track variations, and provide regular reports on cost performance.

·         Assist in the preparation and assessment of interim and final valuations for progress payments

·         Collaborate with project teams to identify and mitigate potential risks and cost overruns.

·         Prepare and maintain accurate records of project documentation, including contracts, invoices, and correspondence

·         Assist in the preparation of cost reports and forecasts

·         Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in quantity surveying

Education & Skills Required:

·         A 3rd level degree in Quantity Surveying or an electrical trade and relevant QS experience

·         The successful candidate must have a willingness to attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills

·         Strong IT skills are required

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

·         Understanding of construction methods and materials

·         Familiarity with cost estimation techniques
